Overview
Land of the once-renowned and the long-dreaded Barbary pirates, Algeria has attracted many traders and travelers from all over the world. Although this incredibly beautiful land and all that it offers is not widely-known, very few can deny the pull they feel towards this exotic country. Step foot in Algeria for once and you will never get over this land of natural splendor for a lifetime.
The Berbers were the original inhabits of this land until the Carthaginians moved in during 1,000 B.C. After this incursion, they seized control and established the famed land of Carthage and were greatly feared by every clan. This state of hegemony prevailed until the Romans laid siege and conquered the land.
Activities & Attractions
If you and your fellow vacationers love history and exotic locations, Algeria is the place to visit. You will find many ancient ruins spread across the land. Many of these historical sites have been announced as UNESCO world heritage sites inicluding Al Qal'a of Beni Hammad, Tipasa, Djémila, M'Zab Valley, Casbah and the Tassili n'Ajjer mountain range.
Even if history does not entice you, Algeria still has a number of alluring vacation spots that you can explore and enjoy. This includes the unforgettable Mount Chrea, where the snow shines and sparkles in the light on the mountain top. The city of Oran has much to offer, especially if you wish to enjoy a luxurious stay or get some holiday shopping done. You can also find excellent restaurants and other activities and attractions in this city to keep you occupied during your stay. Other attractions in Algeria include The Sahara Desert, Cirta, Belzma National Park, and Algiers.
Lodging
Similar to any other country, accommodation costs in this country vary depending on whether you choose to lodge in a small town area or city. You can find many good hotels, both luxurious and economical. Oil and gas exports have brought a great deal of tourism and business into Algeria, which continues to encourage visitors from all over the world to visit and partake in what this land has to offer them. Algiers is a particularly wonderful city that has many luxurious places to stay, including the Hilton Alger.
Transportation
Both public and private transportation are available throughout Algerian cities and towns, with many busses and trains operating between them. You can hire vehicles as there are many good car rental companies at the airports and the major cities. There are ferry services available in the northern part of the country.
