Angola Vacations

Overview

African vacations are often synonymous with visits to diamond mines, petroleum wells, and forest areas. The country beckons vacationers from all over the world with its rich, natural beauty. The country is the second largest producer of petroleum and diamond products in South Africa and also features rivers, waterfalls and scenic coastline.

Until recently, Portugal had laid claim on Angola and all of its exports. When Portugal handed over power to the nationalist party, there was a rebellion and a civil war broke out. However, a ceasefire was soon achieved; since then, the doors of this historically significant land have been open to the world. To add to every vacationer's joy, Angola has been working very hard towards rebuilding the tourism industry during the post-war years, which has started yielding results.

Activities & Attractions

No matter which region of Angola you explore, you are bound to find a vacation spot you like. For instance, if you prefer coastal areas, Angola features some of the most beautiful coastlines in Africa. This country borders the Atlantic Ocean and has 1,650 kilometers of coastline. If you'd rather enjoy the city life, Angola includes cities with great hangouts like any other major city in the world. Or if you want to spend most of your vacation outdoors, Angola has a lot to offer, from tropical rainforests to mountains and flowing fields, where nature is at its prolific best. There are many natural parks and reserves in Angola like the Transfrontier Park, the national park of Quissama, and the national park of Bikuar.

Although the history of this country has been blighted by warfare and control, with the dawn of the new millennium, the people of Angola have toiled to rebuild their country and bring its natural beauty alive.

Lodging

Though Angola features over a hundred hotels throughout the country, only half of those have been renovated during the post-war years. While the renovated half of the hotels may not include the most modern amenities, they provide an affordable lodging choice for individuals who wish to travel to this exotic land on a budget. If you are able to afford a more expensive accommodation, you should try to explore some of the luxurious hotels available in the cities.

Prices change constantly and should be reviewed prior to your travel, especially if you are on an inexpensive tour plan.

Transportation

If you would like to travel across Angola, you will find a number of decent public transportation options. You can also find good car rental companies. If you are in a mood to splurge, you can even hire a helicopter for a day, to see all that Angola has to offer.
