Overview

A common name among vacationers worldwide, Ghana is celebrated across the globe for its warm reception and hospitable surroundings. The inhabitants of Ghana are graciously welcoming and understanding individuals. Some visitors to Ghana are annoyed about the lack of appropriate organization in the tourism sights, however, many other travelers feel the laid back feeling they get while touring around Ghana can be hugely comforting.

The Republic of Ghana is a country in West Africa. It is located on the Gulf of Guinea, a few degrees north of the Equator and has a warm climate. In pre-colonial times, Ghana was ruled by a number of ancient kingdoms. In 1874, the British established

a crown colony called Gold Coast. It achieved independence in 1957, becoming the first sub-Saharan African nation to do so. The name Ghana, which means "warrior king," was chosen to reflect the ancient Empire of Ghana.

If you are planning to visit Ghana, one important thing to remember is to get your visa ahead of time. Once you've done this, you are all set to experience a wonderful trip.
