Overview
Seychelles is also officially known as the Republic of Seychelles. It is an archipelago nation comprising 115 islands. Seychelles is located in the Indian Ocean to the east of mainland Africa and to the northeast of the island of Madagascar. To the west of Seychelles is Zanzibar, to the South is Mauritius and Réunion, to the Southwest is Comoros and Mayotte and to the Northeast is Suvadives of the Maldives. Seychelles became a crown colony separate from Mauritius in 1903. After independence in 1976, it was declared a republic within the Commonwealth. Seychelles is a tropical paradise with abundant flora and fauna along with a plethora of wildlife. Snorkeling is an activity that every visitor must experience. Public transport bus services, hire cars and taxis are easily available. However, you may have to negotiate rates with the taxi driver because the meters on the taxis are not always used. It is possible to hire bicycles on islands that are ideal for cycling and walking. It is rather difficult to hire bikes.
