Overview

Uganda is also known as the Republic of Uganda. It is a landlocked region that is located in East Africa. It is bordered by Kenya on the east, Democratic Republic of the Congo on the west, Sudan on the north, and Rwanda and Tanzania on the south. A large portion of Lake Victoria is located on the southern part of Uganda. Travelers visiting Uganda can enjoy the beautiful mountains, trekking opportunities, and communities of mountain gorillas. Kampala is now the modern, bustling capital of a new Uganda, which is one of the fastest growing economies in Africa.

Activities & Attraction

There are plenty of activities and attractions available for tourists. Most of them are outdoor activities that allow you to experience the incredible scenic beauty of Uganda. Gorilla safaris, bird watching, safaris, and wildlife safaris are worth the experience. Other activities include white water rafting, white water rafting, quad biking and bungee jumping. Cultural tours, chimpanzee tracking safari and visiting the source of Nile River are other activities you can do here. Fishing and nature walks are some of the treats available in the region. Popular attractions include Mount Sabinyo, Lake Mutanda, Ajai Game Reserve, and Ruwenzori Mountains National Park.

Lodging

Lodging facilities in Uganda range from high end, intermediate, or low budget accommodation. All these lodging facilities vary in price and provision of amenities. Tourists who wish to experience something unique can avail of the camping sites and facilities that are available all over the country. Sheraton Hotel, Cassia Lodge, Golf Course Hotel, Mosa Courts and Travellers Inn are some of the hotels available in Kampala.

Transportation

Getting around in Uganda is quite easy. The local people get around mostly by using the share minibuses also known as taxis that are plentiful. Fares are fixed and vehicles leave whenever they are full. Busses connect the major towns on a daily basis and Ugandan postal service minibuses travel from Kampala to all major centres several times a week and cost less. Kampala also has bicycle taxis. There's an excellent system of roads between most major centres in the southern part of Uganda. Rental car companies are based near the airport in Entebbe, Kampala and other major towns. Drivers need an international drivers licence and must drive on the left. Road signs directing travellers are almost non-existent and fuel is expensive. When it comes to long distance travel, the best option is to go by trains or busses.
