Overview
Zambia, also known as the Republic of Zambia, is a landlocked country located in Africa. Zambia is bounded by Tanzania on the northeast, Malawi on the east, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Botswana to the south, and Angola on the west. Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia has most of the population of the country. Lusaka is also the Copper belt in the northwest region of the country.
Activities & Attractions
Several activities and attractions are available for tourists visiting Zambia. The Victoria Falls tops the list in the attractions in Zambia. There are bridges that enable the finest view such as the Falls Bridge and the Victoria Falls Bridge. You can walk through the rain forests on the opposite cliff, where the view of the falls is amazing. Apart from the famous Victoria Falls, Zambia is also home to several other magnificent waterfalls like Ngonye Falls, Nyambwezi Falls, Kalambo Falls and Kundalila Falls.
Large sport activities attract the visitors to the Zambezi River, the fourth largest river system in the country. The upper part of the river is inhabited by the farmers and fisherman and they celebrate the Ku-omboka Cerremony. The stunning wildlife, splendid safaris, enormous national parks and the game reserves such as the Kafue National Park, Kasanka National Park, Lochinvar National Park, South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi National Parks are well known attractions in Zambia. There are opportunities for different kinds of activities such as white water rafting, canoeing, and gorge swinging. Other popular activities include paragliding, fishing and snorkeling.
Lodging
You will be quite surprised to learn that there are several lodging options than you might expect. Most people who stay in Zambia on vacation utilize one of the many lodges that are available. These are very cozy and comfortable small home like hotels and are perfect for anyone seeking a bit of privacy during their stay. There are also many other larger hotels and motels that are available at an affordable price. However, if you would like to enjoy a unique experience, then you must avail one of the great bed and breakfast hotels. These are slightly more expensive as compared to other lodging places, but they are definitely worth the money.
Transportation
Several modes of transportation are available in Zambia. Two types of rail network namely the ordinary trains and the Tazara trains are available. The Tazara train network is reliable, fast and therefore very popular with tourists. You can also use the local buses which are cheap and frequent. Taxis are very common and convenient to travel around the region. Some of the tourist attractions may require you to use the boat service that is quite affordable. If you choose to book a trip with any of the travel agents, then all the travel arrangements including transportation is suitably provided.
