Beijing is the capitol of China and is known for its cultural, commercial, and political developments. The Peoples' Republic of China was established in 1949. The city is divided into 16 districts: Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chongwen, Xuanwu, Chaoyang, Haidian, Shijingshan, Fengtai, Shunyi, Changping, Mentougou, Tongzhou, Fangshan, Daxing, Huairou and Pinggu, and the municipality is comprised of two countries: Miyun and Yanqing. Beijing is considered to be the ancient capitol of the four dynasties making China unparalleled worldwide in its rich cultural heritage.

Besides its incredible beauty and architecture, Beijing is also popular for its marvelous structures. The Great Wall of China is one of the greatest man-made wonders that took almost seven centuries to be completed. It stretches 4,163 miles (almost 6,700 kilometers.) through deserts, mountains, grasslands, and plateaus. The Great Wall has long been incorporated into Chinese mythology and popular symbolism. Several legends speak of the collapse of a section of the Great Wall caused by Meng Jiangnu. It is said that while crying bitterly over the death of her husband, who died during the construction of the Great Wall a part of the wall collapsed. This legend has gained wide popularity through textbooks, folk songs, and traditional operas in China. The Palace Museum, which was built during the Ming Dynasty, has an incredible 9,999 rooms that cover over 250 acres. The museum comprises an outer court and an inner court. Located at the heart of the city, this Royal palace was forbidden entrance for the commoners in the past. Puyi, the last Emperor, occupied the Inner Palace as a royal residence until 1924. The Ming Tombs are complex houses containing the remains of 13 Emperors of China. These magnificent structures are surrounded by columns topped with sculptures of mythical beasts called the "hou" (reporters of the emperor). The imperial yellow roofed tiles of the buildings add to the serenity of the place.

Beijing hosts a number of other mesmerizing and attractive events that have become a delight for millions of visitors each year. China had and still continues to fascinate people all over the world and there is no doubt that it will charm people for centuries to come.

Beijing provides you the style of hotel you prefer. There are international luxury hotels, local guesthouses, budget apartments, and ancient courtyard dwellings suitable for business and leisure.

Transportation

Beijing offers a variety of choices regarding transportation like the city public bus, subways, taxis, trains, pedi cabs, and water ways. The city is accessible from almost all parts of China. Though the city public bus is inexpensive and comfortable people prefer the subway, which is relatively clean and fast compared to the city bus. The pedi cab is the perfect choice for sight-seeing in Beijing.
