Overview

Brunei Darussalam is located on the northern shore of the Island of Borneo with Bandar Seri Begawan as its capital city. Brunei became an independent country in 1984, and in 2004, the parliament was reinstated by the Sultan Bolkiah. It is one of the smallest countries in the world but boasts of having one of the highest per capita incomes in the Asian continent. Belait, Brunei and Muara, Temburong, and Tutong are the four districts of Brunei Darussalam.

Brunei enjoys moderate equatorial climate throughout the year and the annual temperature ranges from 20.6°C to 28.3°C. The only independent country on the Island of Borneo, Brunei is surrounded by the coastline of South China Sea and the Malaysian states of Sarawak and Sabah.
