Japan

Japan is a country in East Asia and is located in the Pacific Ocean. It has the Sea of Japan on one side, and to the west are the nations of China, North Korea, South Korea, and Russia. Over 3,000 islands form the nation of Japan and it is an archipelago. The largest and most famous of these islands are Shikoku, Kyushu, Honshu, and Hokkaido. These islands account for over 96 percent of the Japan land mass. Most of the islands are a result of volcanic activity. In fact, the highest peak in Japan is the Mount Fuji volcano.

The Japanese have the eighth highest standard of living in the world. Japan is a world leader in machinery, electronics, robotics, and technology. It is a constitutional monarchy where the role of the emperor is very limited and mostly ceremonial.
