Phuket is one of the southern provinces of Thailand. It is the largest island in Thailand and is connected to the main land by a bridge. It is commonly referred to as the "Pearl of the South." Activities & Attractions
There are plenty of sights and attractions for you to enjoy in this city. You can visit the various Buddhist, Chinese, and Muslim shrines in Phuket, most of which are open to visitors. Dressing is an aspect you need to be very careful about while visiting these shrines. Shorts and sleeveless shirts are not permitted. You will be asked to remove your shoes before entering the places of worship.
You can visit the Kata Beach and Nai Yang Beach near the city. The undertow during the monsoon season can be very strong in these seas. If you see red warning flags on the beach do not attempt to go swimming. Take advantage of this time to take a walk on the beach instead and watch the sunset and sunrise that present an amazing palette of colors.
Some of the famous tourist destinations in Phuket are the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park with its triple canopy, Koh Sirey, and Limestone outcroppings in the east coast. Phuket Zoo and Royal Phuket Marina are other places of interest in the city. Phuket is one of the top 10 diving destinations in the world. The best time for diving here is between November and May. If you are an avid golfer, you can choose one of the six international golf courses in Phuket.

There are various modes of transport for you to choose from when you are in Phuket. You can travel by buses to most places around Phuket. Cars, jeeps, and vans can be rented for your travel needs around the city. The use of bicycle is also quite popular in Phuket and most places of interest in the city are quite accessible by this mode of transport.
