Overview
The premiere ski destination in Canada is Whistler/Blackcomb and is actually the number one ski resort located in all of North America. Located quite close to Vancouver, Whistler is a lovely mountainous area to visit. The Whistler and Blackcomb mountains measure 5,280 feet in height. Snow lovers from all over the world flock the area to enjoy the 360 inches of annual snowfall. There are plenty of opportunities for adventure at the area's three glaciers and twelve alpine bowls. Skiers can spend days wandering the over two hundred trails that have marked directions. Whistler/Blackcomb is one of the designated venues for the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games that will be held in 2010, as the area will host a number of the major Olympic events.

Whistler is a natural year-round playground featuring the natural beauty of clear mountain air, high mountain lakes, and lush pine forests. Visitors can enjoy exciting adventure or relaxing views any day of the year in Whistler.
Snowboarding is a popular activity and is available at four terrain parks and a super pipe. In addition, there are 28 kilometers of set and groomed cross country ski tracks with marked miles. For skiers, there are both cross country ski and touring ski options. Resorts offer swimming and indoor tennis, while the outdoor lovers will find facilities for ice fishing and ice-skating. For those who want an airlift to the wilderness, there are helicopter facilities. On the base II on the Blackcomb Mountain, there is a tubing hill for the enjoyment of for snow tubers. Visitors can also find RV camping and mountaineering. There are movies, hay rides, and sing-alongs at several of the campgrounds and resorts. Besides skiing and sledding, snow lovers will enjoy snowboarding, snowmobiling, snow cat riding, and also some tobogganing.
You will certainly find your favorite food in one of the many restaurants in the Whistler Blackcomb area. The options range from small tea huts with warm drinks and snacks to rustic cabins on the slopes offering home cooked meals at 6,000 feet. There are two lodges present on the mountains where over 1,000 guests can be seated here and dine. The restaurants in Whistler are clustered in geographic locations such as Village North, Creekside, Blackcomb Mountain, Upper Village, Whistler Village, Whistler Mountain, and Whistler Valley. Whistler's favorite après spots feature live music, great music, and a fun atmosphere.

There are 110 hotel and condominium properties with 4,475 units within walking distance of all lifts. Whistler accommodations include chalets, whistler condominiums, and rental homes.
Transportation
To reach Whistler from Vancouver, there are several options. You can choose to take the flight, train, or bus. You can also rent a car and drive by yourself. In Whistler you could take the taxi, limo, or public transit services to navigate.
