Another place you can visit in this island country is La Romana. You can take a shuttle boat to Isla Catalina, which is a small island located offshore. This island has coral reef that makes it very popular for snorkeling and diving. La Romana also has a Taino artifacts museum and an amphitheatre.

Transportation

When it comes to transportation for visitors, there are many options in the country. One option is to rent a vehicle, as it can be quite inexpensive and provides you maximum flexibility in your travels. However, you can also use the public transportation for going round the country. You can travel to the places of interest in privately owned mini-vans called Guagas. Caro Publicos are public taxis that take you to most sightseeing places. These small cars usually travel on a particular route and stop at any place along the route to collect passengers. Dominican Republic has a unique form of transport called Motoconcho. These are privately owned motorbikes whose drivers will give you a ride on the back of their bikes.
