The country is popularly called the "Republic of Estonia" and is located in the Baltic area of Northern Europe. It is bordered on the north and west by the Baltic Sea, the Russian Federation on the east, and Latvia on the south. The country as a whole has approximately only 1.4 million people and is the same size as many of the large cities in the other European countries. With its amazing history Estonia can bring many people to the area.

The country gained its independence in 1991. Estonia can be a great destination for those who are looking for a new place to visit, or a place to stay. Activities and attractions for the various areas of Estonia are incredibly interesting. There are customs and cultural identities from Sweden, Russia, Germany, and more. Each brings something interesting to the country in the form of museums, art, music, and food. The Old Town houses the city's important historic attractions and museums including the House of the Brotherhood of the Blackheads, St. Catherine's Guild, and the 15th-century Guildhall that now has the History Museum. The Red Tower, the Town Hall, and Tartu Toy Museum are some of the famous historic sites in the country.

If you are looking for a major event to attend in Estonia, look no further than the Estonian Song Festival (known locally as the Laulupidu). This is a festival that happens every four years, but has decided to leap frog from its last showing in 2007 to 2009. For a holiday in Estonia, you should know that there is only one major national holiday, the Independence Day of Estonia, the 24^th of February.
