Greece was once under Roman rule but the Greek culture had its own separate culture from the Roman culture before it became part of the Roman Republic in 146 BC. The Erechtheion is another must-see site as it is a beautiful classical architectural structure of ancient Greece. The Acropolis Museum contains one of the most valuable artifacts of the country.

Athens was the host of the 1896 Summer Games (the start of the modern Olympic games), as well as in 1906. Greece also held its third Olympic games in 2004. Therefore, the Olympic Village and Olympic Stadium (as well as various other surrounding venues) are a must to visit places and tour while in Greece.
