Liechtenstein Vacations
Overview
Liechtenstein was created by the leading monarchy in order to join the Holy Roman Empire. The country is tucked in between Switzerland and Austria. Best known for wine production, postage stamps, and dentures, Liechtenstein has been to many a safe haven not only from taxes, but from the rest of the world due to their tolerant approach towards all things. The country has been well known in international banking for many years and the low taxes for the country have helped to bring about a positive economic change throughout the land. This, in particular, helped Liechtenstein join the Holy Roman Empire and has also made it well known internationally.
Activities & Attractions
Liechtenstein is very famous for winter sports. Apart from activities during snowfall, the country has a lot more to offer to its visitors, especially in terms of natural scenery. In the summer, hikers and cyclists can traverse the stunning mountain ranges and valleys, while in winter, these same areas offer skiing, ice skating, and sledging. You can immerse yourself amidst the mountains, valleys, and waterfalls on a tour to Heidiland, while a trip to the beautiful banks of the Lake Walen will stun you with its immense beauty. Liechtenstein has a lot of great winter sport activities including skiing at the main ski resorts Malbun and Steg.
There's a great Prince's Wine Cellar's wine tour in Vaduz. Hikers can go to Gaflei for a path along a high ridge.
Lodging
There are only a few choices to make as far as lodging goes. The options include a youth hostel, which closes in the winter, and a few hotels like the Hotel Lindenpic and the Krone. The Krone is very inexpensive and has a restaurant attached to it that has received popular ratings. The snow sports being the country's most popular pastime, all lodgings will typically offer a discount during the winter season.
Transportation
The country has no airport, so you have to either drive into the country or take a train. The train is considered a part of the public transport system and is very cheap to ride on. The bus system is very efficient and affordable as well. A 7-day pass will cost you only a few US dollars. If you are travelling with a group and your budget can stretch a bit, then hiring a car can give you a lot of freedom with regard to travel. Taxis are also considered to be very fair in the rates they charge. Try to avoid hitchhiking as it can be dangerous.
