Lithuania Vacations
Overview
Lithuania is a country in northern Europe that shares a border with the Baltic Sea, Latvia, Belarus, Poland and the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad. A member of the European Union and NATO, Lithuania was once the largest country in all of Europe. It was comprised of land that today is Belarus, Ukraine and parts of Poland and Russia.
For many years, the people of Lithuania were untouched. During World War II Nazis occupied the land, which was later taken over by the Russians. Lithuania was the first country that renewed its independence from the Soviet Union on March 11, 1990. The day is considered one of Lithuania's most important annual holidays.
