Overview
Serbia is a country located in the central and southeastern part of Europe. Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Bosnia, Hungary, Montenegro, Kosovo, and Croatia are the neighboring countries of Serbia. Belgrade is the capital city and the largest city in the country. It is highly recommended that you check with the US government on news and regulations (if any) regarding travel to Serbia. The northern part of the country experiences continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. Heavy snowfall is generally seen in the mountains.

Tourism in Serbia is mainly focused on the mountain resorts of Zlatibor, Kopaonik, and the Tara. There are plenty of spots for skiing on the mountains. It has been noted that the Serbian Mountains can be compared to the Alps in many ways. The ski season is from December to March. Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Nis are well known cities that attract many visitors. The festivals and celebrations held in Serbia are entertaining and educational and it gives the visitor a great insight into the culture and history of the area. Explore the castles, the ruins of ancient cities, and fascinating buildings. The diverse landscape with harsh cliffs and mountains along with the flatlands makes Serbia a land of great contrast and beauty.
Serbians do enjoy their sports, especially football. Like all European countries, Serbians take their sports very seriously. There also have organized basketball, polo, and volleyball teams. Tennis is also another popular sport in the country. Hunting and fishing are also popular activities in Serbia that boasts of both small and large game. Hunting is possible all year round.
There are many beautiful tourist destinations in Serbia that tourists can visit and enjoy. The Patriarchate of Pec, Our Lady of Ljevis, and Gracanica are the medieval spiritual strongholds of Serbian Orthodoxy. The Studenica Monastery is on the list of the world's most valuable monuments. The Mileseva monastery is the royal family's shrine.

Plenty of lodging options are available for your stay in the country. You can choose to stay in cheap bed and breakfasts and motels or splurge in expensive hotels. Transportation
You can get around Serbia by train, bus or car. The bus service is extensive and takes you to most places in the country. You can rent cars and travel independently to the places of interest. Trains connect most places in Serbia, but they are generally slower than busses.
