It was known as the "Cradle of Civilization," because of the fact that the area gave birth to great artistic and scientific advances, despite the surrounding hostile deserts. The Garden of Eden and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon are amazing traditional attractions located in the region. Old Baghdad was a great centre of learning.
