Lebanon Vacations
Overview
Lebanon lies east of the Mediterranean Sea and shares borders on the north and east with Syria and to the south with Israel. It is a mountainous country with a fertile valley, called the Bekaa Valley, which lies between Mount Lebanon, Mount Hermon, and the Anti-Lebanon mountain ranges. This small country offers a wonderful variety of scenery and there are few other places in the world that can equal it in beauty.
Along the foothills and closer to the valley, visitors can find orchards and vineyards filled with grapes, plums, apricots, figs, peaches and olives. In the rocky and hilly terrain, these crops are often grown in terraces that are carved by hand from the sides of the mountains in order to develop arable land.
Activities & Attractions
Lebanon has several magnificent archeological and historical sites such as Anjar, Baalbek and the city of Byblos. The city of Beirut is another major tourist destination. Other important places to see are Beiteddine Palace, Deir El Qamar, Sidon, and the Holy Valley. The old town of Tripoli and village of Zahle are also important tourist destinations.
