Uluru Vacations
Overview
Uluru is a large sandstone rock formation and one of the most recognizable natural icons in Australia. It is located in the northern territory of Australia in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and is a World Heritage Site. It is also known as the Ayers Rock, especially in the outside world. Though you can climb Uluru, it is advised that visitors take a guided tour around the base of the mountain. Tribal customs prevent the climbing of the mountain except during sacred ceremonies. You can take a walk around the rock and marvel at the beauty and uniqueness of Uluru. The striking formation appears to change colors throughout the day, making it a perfect subject for professional and amateur photographers alike.
Attractions & Activities
Uluru houses many springs, water holes, rock caves, and ancient paintings. You can also visit the Ayers Rock Observatory in Yulara and the Curtain Springs Cattle Station and Wayside Inn. The Mulgara Gallery houses several interesting artifacts and native craft items. Then there is also the Kings Canyon National Park, where you can trek along the Giles walking Track. The trek offers wonderful views of the wilderness of the park that houses a variety of native wildlife.
The Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre is also quite popular among tourists. The entry to the cultural centre is free of charge and you can learn more about the Anangu people, their art, way of life, history, and languages through the many displays showcased. Apart from wonderful sightseeing and an enjoyable walk, you can happily click away to your heart's content. You cannot help but capture the natural beauty of the area for posterity.
There are plenty of spots ideal for picnicking and this is a great way to spend an afternoon. You can enjoy the beautiful sunrise and sunset at Uluru on your camel back rides.

From five star and four star hotels to budget accommodations and serviced apartments, you can find a range of accommodation facilities. You will also find interesting camping grounds if you enjoy close proximity to nature.
Transportation
The rocks of Uluru at located away from Yulara where most of the accommodation facilities are available. Therefore you should plan your transportations needs and make necessary arrangements in advance. Shuttle services are easily available although they are slightly expensive. You can also hire cars but this option is also quite expensive.
