Florida Vacations

The State of Florida is situated at the farthest point in the southeastern region of the United States of America. Its favorable climate has gifted it the tag of "Sunshine State." Over a century ago, Florida was adopted as the winter holiday destination of the elite class. Since then, it has continued to gain in popularity as a vacation destination. The agricultural industry still maintains a strong foothold in the country and Florida is a large exporter of quality oranges. The capital of Florida is Tallahassee, which is located in the eastern portion of the Florida panhandle.

Florida has some of the best beaches in the country and this is the main reason for vacationing in Florida. Whether you are looking out for a secluded beach tucked away in the calmness of the countryside or beaches bustling with activities and water sports, Florida does not disappoint. The beaches provide all the facilities a visitor looks for and are they are easily accessible. The state also has some of the world's best-known theme parks, including Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld. The large, diverse state has a number of well-preserved secrets waiting to be explored.

Orlando

When most people think of the Orlando region in Florida, it is the fabled theme parks that come to their mind. Foreseeing the fact that they require large tracts of land, just about all the major amusement attractions lie either in the suburbs or the rural areas. These theme parks of course include Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World. There are also smaller theme parks such as Gatorland, the Holy Land Experience, and Ripley's Believe It Or Not. The theme parks are a delight to children but there is actually much to keep the adults amused as well. Orlando has all that it takes to bring a smile to your faces, no wonder the landmarks in the city are called "surefire smile inducers."

Key West

Key West is a popular destination for those who have a fascination for the ocean blues. Key West is the name of both an island and a city in the Florida Keys, a chain of islands stretching in an arc south from Miami, Florida. It is the southernmost city of the entire continental United States. Before Columbus introduced Europeans to the region, it was the Calusa people who inhabited Key West. The first European to visit Key West was Juan Ponce de Leon in 1521. During the times when Florida was a Spanish colony, a garrisoned fishing village was established at Key West. Fisherman used the island and it was not controlled by anyone for a long time, until it was claimed by the U.S. in 1822. You can think of admiring the sunset whilst a calm boat ride, taking a stroll down the Old Town lane, or simply taking in the smell of jasmines once at Key West. Scuba diving and snorkeling are a few of the interesting activities visitors to the place engage themselves in.

Miami

Miami is one of those great places in Florida that has quite a lot to offer both the tourist and the resident. When Miami officially became a city on July 28, 1896, it had a population of just over 300. Today, there are around 2.2 million inhabitants in the city, another 1.6 million in nearby Broward County, and about 1.1 million in the Palm Beach Country. This makes it the largest urban area in the southeastern state of Florida. There are many activities and attractions in and around Miami, ranging from the Art Deco hotels of south Beach to the Okefenokee Swamp. The city of Miami is renowned for its boutique hotels. South Beach, in particular, is known for these hotels that reveal the Art Deco style of architecture.
