Between the May of 1804 and the September of 1806 a group of 32 men, one woman, and a baby traveled over the plains across the state on their way to the Pacific coast. Since then, the trail has been the one of the most coveted destinations of history buffs from across the world.
A bicycle race is organized across Iowa, which is widely celebrated as the RAGBRAI, the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa. This is a great opportunity for cyclists all over the nation to come together. The highlight of the race is when the participants dip their wheels in the Missouri River and the Mississippi River. It usually takes seven days to complete the race.
