Overview
Nebraska is located in the Great Plains of the Midwestern and Western United States of America. In fact, Cozad Nebraska is the geographical center of the U.S. Like most other states in the Midwest, Nebraska also traces its history back to the ancient tribes who followed big game about 10,000 years ago. Nebraska was a part of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, and was discovered by Lewis and Clark as part of a voyage of exploration. The California, Oregon and Mormon trails all went through Nebraska as part of the great westward migration. Nebraska was recognized as a territory in 1854 and became a state in 1862.
Activities & Attractions
Nebraska has a lot of activities and attractions for the tourists to enjoy. Chimney Rock is the most famous landmark in Nebraska. It is a prominent geological formation and has been accorded the status of a National Historic Site. It served as a prominent landmark on the Oregon, California, and Mormon Trails.
There are many other historical landmarks in Nebraska, such as the Gerald R. Ford Birth site and Gardens, Joslyn Castle, General Crook House Museum, and the Strategic Air Command Museum. If you are a Buffalo Bill fan, then you would certainly not like to miss a chance to visit his home and ranch located in North Platte Nebraska.
The Henry Doorly Zoo is listed as one of the best zoos in the world. It houses the world's largest indoor rainforest complete with waterfalls and many endangered species from around the world. There is a 70-foot underwater tunnel in the Scott Aquarium and you can look at the sharks, stingrays, and other sea life swimming above your head. The Carhenge in Nebraska is a replica of the Stonehenge in England, but unlike the inspiration, the Carhenge is constructed of vintage American cars. At the Ashfall Fossil Beds in Nebraska, you can witness the fossilized mammals from the Serravallian age.

Lodging is available in most of the state parks in Nebraska and there are plenty of hotels and motels too. Bed and breakfast inns are also available for accommodation that range from simply quaint to historic and majestic. You can also choose to pick one of the guest ranches for your stay.
Transportation
There are busses and shuttles in Nebraska that will take you around the city. The Blue Rivers Transportation System operates in five counties southeast of Nebraska. However, you will have to reserve a place at least 24 hours in advance. Metro Area Transit and Star Tran are two bus systems that take care of public transport in Nebraska.
