South Carolina is a state in the southern region of the United States and borders Georgia to the south and North Carolina to the north. Carolina was originally a part of the Province of Carolina. This state was one of the first colonies to gain independence from the British Crown during the America Revolution. The state is named after King Charles II as Carolous is Latin for Charles.
