Overview
Vermont is located in the New England area of the northeastern United States and is known as the Green Mountain State. Covering nearly 10,000 square miles of space, it is the only New England state with no coastline. Sister state of Massachusetts, Vermont was originally inhabited by Native Americans and then by the French. It became British territory following the French and Indian War and ultimately became newly established America's 14th state in 1792.
