Overview
According to historians and researchers, Virginia is the first establishment where humans settled some 5000 years ago. As with Vermont, the Iroquois Indians occupied Virginia in the early 1500s but after many battles and victories, Virginia became a part of the United States in 1781. It is known as "old dominion" or "mother of presidents" because of the fact that Virginia is the birthplace of more than seven U.S. Presidents. Its capital city is Richmond. This state was named after Queen Elizabeth I of England, the "Virgin Queen."

Other popular festivals include the Virginia Film Festival and fan conventions such as Anime USA. Some of Virginia's unique locations are the Lurey Cavern, the Charlottesville, and the Norfolk.
