Located in West Palm Beach, Florida, Rapids Water Park is a 30 acre theme park that includes dozens of water slides, pools and other water-based attractions. While it may not be as large as the other major theme parks in the area, it certainly is a fun alternative for those looking to get soaked and make a splash with their friends and family.
About Rapids Water Park
Rapids Water Park started its early days consisting of only four water slides spread across 4 acres of land in the late 1970’s. Since then, the park has grown steadily, spanning 30 acres of land and housing as much as 35 water slides along with other water attractions. The park is conveniently located near the I-95, and the park features attractions suitable for the entire family no matter what their age or swimming level is.
Attractions
The water rides and attractions at Rapids Water Park can be broken down into several categories:
Thrill Rides
Thrill rides offer people the chance to feel the rush of steep drops, fast turns and the rush of flying through water slides at high speeds. Many of the rides have a height requirement and are not suitable for everyone. Here are some of the rides that fall under this category:
- Big Thunder: This is the largest water ride in the park, using a four-person tube to send park guests propelling through a large funnel at speeds over 20 miles-per-hour.
- Black Thunder: Black Thunder is a large funnel that sends four riders spinning through complete darkness.
- Body Blasters: Guests will be sent flying in this dark, tunnel slide filled with multiple dips and curves.
- Pirate’s Plunge: If you’re not prepared for a heart racing, 7-story drop, you might want to take a pass on the Pirate’s Plunge.
- Rapids Racer: No waterpark is complete without its very own water slide race way. At the Rapids Racer, guests can race each other down the water slide as they go sailing headfirst into the pool at the bottom.
- Riptide Raftin’: This tube ride can accommodate up to 5 riders at a time as they go racing through the twists and turns of this giant tunnel slide.
Mild Rides
These are the very mellow rides that are suitable for just about anyone.
- Lazy River: This ride feels exactly how it sounds. If you’re looking to navigate your way through the park, take a ride on the Lazy River, where the current will float you down an inner tube across a quarter-mile river. There are multiple entry and exit points scattered throughout the park.
- Little Splash Hill: On Little Splash Hill, you will find 8 slides suitable for children of all ages.
- Old Yellar: Old Yellar consists of 1,600 feet of spiraling flumes that will send you twisting about at moderate speeds.
